The Wonderful World of Chicks! 🐣

Did you know that baby chicks are born with all the downy feathers they will ever have? It’s true! They are like tiny, fluffy balls of sunshine from the moment they hatch. This little guy in our color panel looks like he’s having a fantastic time exploring. He’s pecking at flower seeds, which means he’s enjoying a delicious and healthy snack! 🌻 Seeds are packed with all sorts of good stuff that help baby chicks grow big and strong.

Chicks are very social creatures. They love to be with their mommy and their brothers and sisters. You might hear them making little “peep-peep” sounds – that’s how they talk to each other! They might be saying “I’m hungry!” or “Where are you?” or “This seed is yummy!” 😋 This color panel shows our chick in a lovely meadow filled with flowers and berries. Imagine the sweet smell of the flowers and the juicy taste of the berries! 🍓

When chicks hatch, they can already walk and peck for food! It’s like they are born with all the skills they need to start their adventure. This makes them super independent little explorers, just like the chick in this picture. They are very curious and love to investigate everything around them. Our little chick is probably discovering all sorts of interesting things in this beautiful meadow. What colors will you use to make this meadow come alive? Maybe bright yellow flowers, deep purple berries, and a nice green field for our chick to wander in?

Fun Chick Fact! 💡

Baby chicks have a special “egg tooth” that they use to break out of their shell when they hatch. It’s a tiny, sharp point on their beak that falls off a few days after they are born. Pretty neat, right?
