In front of the table, three children are eager to dig in. Can you guess what they are most excited to eat? The giant turkey is definitely a star, and don’t forget that tempting pie! 🥧 What colors will you use for the turkey’s feathers or the filling of the pie? Perhaps a warm berry color or a creamy yellow?

There are also bowls of tasty-looking rolls or maybe even olives! 🫒 And don’t miss the jugs and pots – they might be filled with cider or gravy! 🍎 The children’s clothes and hats also give us clues about what life was like long ago. Think simple, sturdy fabrics and maybe some charming bonnets or caps.

Did You Know? 🤔

The very first Thanksgiving feast is believed to have happened in 1621. It was a three-day celebration shared between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag people. They shared a meal of deer, fowl, fish, vegetables, and fruit. It wasn’t exactly like the Thanksgiving we celebrate today with turkey and pumpkin pie, but it was a wonderful harvest celebration of friendship and survival!

And guess what? Turkeys are pretty amazing birds! 🦃 Did you know that a male turkey is called a tom, a female is called a hen, and a baby turkey is a poult? Also, turkeys can actually fly, even though we usually see them walking around. Pretty cool, right?

So, as you color this picture, remember the history and fun facts behind this special meal. Get creative and have a blast bringing this historical moment to life!
