Roar-some Stegosaurus Fun! 🌟
Hey there, junior paleontologists! 👋 Let’s talk about this amazing dinosaur, the Stegosaurus! 🦕 This big fella lived a super long time ago, during the Jurassic period, which was about 150 million years ago. That’s like, way, way, WAY before your grandparents were even born! Imagine that!
The most awesome thing about the Stegosaurus, and you can see them clearly on this color panel, are those big, bony plates that run all the way down its back. 😲 Scientists aren’t exactly sure what they were for, but they have some super cool ideas! Some think the plates might have been used to help the Stegosaurus stay cool in the hot sun, like a built-in fan! ☀️ Others think they were for showing off to other Stegosaurus, like wearing a fancy outfit. And some clever folks believe they might have been for protection, like a knight’s armor! 🛡️
And look at its tail! It had spikes on the end called ‘thagomizers’ (yes, that’s a real word!).
