Wowza! Look at this gigantic, grinnin’ whale go! This isn’t just any whale; this is Bartholomew the Big Splash! Bartholomew loves to show off his amazing jumping skills. He practices every single day, leaping out of the big blue ocean, sending waves of water spraying everywhere. Can you imagine how high he can jump? He can jump so high that sometimes little sea birds, called seagulls 🕊️, fly right over his head! They are probably cheering him on, ‘Go Bartholomew, go!’
Whales are super interesting creatures. Did you know that the blue whale is the biggest animal on Earth? Bigger than any dinosaur that ever lived! 😲 They use their powerful tails, called flukes, to swim and to jump like Bartholomew is doing. And that big smile? That’s because Bartholomew is having SO much fun! The water droplets you see are like little sparkly diamonds 💎 when the sun hits them. He’s so happy playing in his ocean home.
Sometimes, when whales jump like this, it’s called ‘breaching’.
