The First Thanksgiving & Our Feast Friends!

Imagine a time long, long ago when families worked hard all year to grow yummy food. This picture reminds us of the very first Thanksgiving! The pilgrims, like the ones in the drawing, came to a new land and learned so much from the Native Americans. They learned how to plant corn, hunt, and fish. When it was time to harvest all their hard work, they decided to have a big feast to celebrate and say thank you for all the good things they had.

Look at this happy pilgrim family! They’re all dressed in their special pilgrim clothes, with tall hats for the grown-ups and bonnets and caps for the kids. They’ve set up a fantastic feast table! The star of the show is a big, plump turkey, probably cooked to perfection. 😋 Around the turkey, you can see colorful pumpkins and ears of corn, which were some of the first foods grown in America. It’s like a delicious autumn buffet!

Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful. We can be thankful for our families, our friends, our homes, and all the yummy food we get to eat. Just like this family, we gather together to share stories and enjoy each other’s company. Maybe you’ve had a Thanksgiving meal with your own family? What was your favorite part? Was it the turkey? Or maybe the sweet pumpkin pie? 🥧

Did you know that turkeys can actually make a sound called a “gobble”? That’s why we often say “gobble, gobble” when we think about Thanksgiving! And pumpkins are part of the squash family, just like zucchini and cucumbers. They grow on vines, and some vines can get really, really long!

Happy Gobbling!

So, as you look at this picture, remember the importance of sharing and giving thanks. Even in a simple drawing, we can see a lot of love and happiness. It’s a reminder that working together and being thankful can lead to wonderful feasts and happy memories. Let’s all try to be thankful every day!
